Environmental Impact

PROJECT DETAILS

Ongoing Environmental Studies

The project’s biological consultants have been conducting avian, bat, and wildlife surveys/studies for two years. Under strict regulations, any wind development project must adhere to significant amounts of project site research and study to understand the potential environmental impact of a project such as this. Ground surveys and helicopter surveys ensure both land and aerial observation.

The Results

The survey data suggests minimal eagle nesting and migration activity in the area. During the acoustic bat monitoring effort, there were no recordings of any protected bat species within the site boundaries. Upper Badlands is also outside Sage Grouse Core or habitat area boundaries as determined by Montana State Fish and Wildlife Service.
